Decision Velocity 3 (DV3) was the first ever online 3D shopping experience in the marketing research industry. While online surveys pushed the boundaries of what basic images and online forms could do, DV3 was able to put the consumer directly in the store and experience a simulated shopping experience like no other.
Problem Statement
In-store product placement has always been at the heart of the sales and marketing process for Consumer Packaged Goods companies, but there was very little that could help accurately measured and reported about optimal in-store product placement and new product development.
Solution
Out of the box thinking and “learning as you go” allow the theoretical concept of an online 3D shopping environment to come to life. Focusing on little known online gaming technologies, where 3D Racing and First Person Shooters were developed by independent developers, I utilized by web development experience along with my knowledge of 3D modeling software to create an immersive shopping experience. By allowing the survey taker to move freely and purchase products from a store, allowed us to collect data and gain better insights on product placement and brand signage.
